SPRING IS IN THE AIR

It's spring time! It's that time of year where flowers bloom, love is in the air...and our skin becomes more vulnerable. This beautiful season brings climate changes that greatly affect our skin, celebrity aesthetician Dr. Maribel Pedrozo tells PEOPLE CHICA. "These changes affect our epidermis, making skin dry, red, irritated and producing changes in skin tone. During this time some dermatology issues are more prevalent. Psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and allergies become worse."

The Colombian skincare expert emphasizes the importance of being protected against the sun's damage. "During this season the sun's rays are stronger than in the winter," she says. "So you will need to use sunscreen with an SPF value of over 30. Make sunscreen your number one ally, that way you will avoid sun spots and early wrinkles."

Pedrozo advises taking advantage of the nice weather to pratice outdoor sports, remembering to drink plenty of water. "Your body and skin will be grateful for this and you will strengthen your immune system with exercise," she says. "Don't forget to apply moisturizer to your entire body before you leave the house."

FACE MASK HEAVEN

The owner of Biobell Oriental MedSpa in Miami says that there are a variety of tropical fruit face masks that can be applied from the comfort of home to hydrate the skin. She recommends making a face mask by mixing in a bowl a small mashed avocado, two spoons of coconut water and one spoon of honey. Let it cool in the fridge and when it's really cold, apply it to the face and leave for 20 minutes. You can also mix mashed cranberries and strawberries with honey and apply to the face and neck for 20 minutes. "Always remember to clean off face masks with cold water or water at room temperature," she recommends.

To hydrate and nourish the skin she also recommends doing facials with oxygen, 100 percent pure Hialuronic acid, stem cells and LED lights. "These are the best ones to restore moisture and freshness to the skin."

"Don't forget to take care of your hands!", she says. "Hands are highly exposed to inclement weather, so apply sunscreen to your hands and keep them moisturized just like you do with your face."

"Another perk of spring is that we don't have to wear so much makeup," she says. "The sun gives our skin that extra glow so use light makeup foundations and avoid using face powder that will clog your pores. A great trick is to use a tinted suncreen or a BB cream."
